Minimal Japandi Custom Home
This stunning neighbourhood custom home was born from a full tear down demolish and rebuild. A 3,000 sq.ft. home was in need of intensive repair so the owners opted to demolish and rebuild from the ground up in a style that would inspire them now and look current for decades to come. Spectacular modern two-story Japandi inspired home for a lovely local Toronto family.
Interior finishes are a harmony of minimal Scandinavian style and modern Japanese aesthetic. The "Japandi" interior styling of this home is built around precisely crafted angles and artisan finishes. We worked with US-based architecture firm IK Studio and Designer Shirley Meisels to create a unique and lasting custom home curated with luxurious natural features.
- Yakisugi (Shou Sugi Ban) wood panels in the entryway
- Light oak used for flooring and minimal modern cabinets
- A massive skylight bathes the home in natural light
- Handmade ceramic zellige bathroom tiles
- Modern custom mudroom storage
As with all SevernWoods Fine Homes, energy efficiency was a focus. Triple glazed windows, R35 wall insulation, and an air-tight building envelope are just a few of the tools we use to craft efficient and comfortable homes. Modern zinc cladding panels and Yakisugi wood were used for the exterior of this home, helping to create a truly unique dwelling in a suburb of Toronto North York.
