Playter Estates House 2

Inspired by the stunning design of a 200-year-old London door, this unique round panel and raised mouldings provide a dramatic entry to this century Danforth home. The large center knob allows the door to be pushed open or pulled closed. Magnets hold the door closed when the deadbolt is not engaged.

The staircase features a modern twist on a traditional newell post, handrail, and pickets. Using the same naturally finished white oak as the floor and stairs, the guard and handrail stand out in this fully modern renovation.

While creating an open-concept layout, the kitchen was moved to the center of the home. Separate rooms for dining and living were eliminated and the massive 15′ long island became the focal piece for the entire floor, creating an ideal space for entertaining.

The kitchen also includes a creative twist on an appliance garage. Daily use appliances pull out of the garage on a sliding stainless steel shelf while remaining plugged in. When not in use, closing the doors turns off the lights and switches off the power receptacles.

The elegant solution to bathroom privacy, installing 3M privacy film on portions of the window, lets in lots of light and allows a direct view of the trees and sky while maintaining privacy. Roller blinds are used after dark to provide complete privacy for occupants using the bathroom or tub.
