What was an open concept, very dated master suite on the third floor, was gutted and reclaimed as a children’s oasis. A side dormer window was added to allow for a bathroom, well suited for a little boy and girl. A high-efficiency furnace and air conditioner were installed, to handle the heating and cooling on the second and third floors. The entire third floor space was insulated with spray foam, creating a tight and energy efficient space. The original narrow and steep stairwell was replaced with a new wider staircase, with a new skylight above. Making use of all of the space available, each bedroom was built with a hidden door that leads into a secret “hideout,” a dream for both children.
