The stately “Belle” of Glencairn, was badly in need of an upgrade and facelift. In a neighbourhood where infill “McMansions” are the norm, the homeowners wanted to modernize their home in function and appearance rather than rebuilding. The home was gutted in stages, starting with the third floor. The roof was raised and a period dormer was designed to allow for a large play room and bathroom. The entire house was insulated, new windows installed, beautiful floors laid throughout, a new and modern kitchen, five bathrooms and a majestic main staircase was added. The exterior was improved with old world stucco restoration and architecturally appropriate front and side porticos, garage and impressive landscaping.
